the guide looks across to Bannerdale Crags and Blencathra |
For me the Northern Fells are the most striking - Skiddaw and Blencathra define the land for miles around. These two fells more or less carry the northern half of the National Park on their shoulders, visible from Penrith to the east and from Scotland over the Solway Firth. The region has far more to offer than just the big guns though, and I've found the regions Back O'Skiddaw and Beyond Blencathra have a unique character and with these areas being relatively quiet the offer a different Lakeland experience.
