This is where my journey started. My first trip up Coniston Old Man had me doing everything they tell you not to - completely unprepared, the only map we had was a 50p leaflet which got soaked through within minutes of us setting off. As it happened, we wasted an hour trudging up the wrong path anyway. But that was it, I was hooked.
